Telecentro Argentina picks Nokia to grow and protect its traffic capacity and subscriber base

Telecentro Argentina has selected Finnish telecommunications vendor Nokia to provide traffic capacity growth needed for future services and subscriber base growth along network protection capabilities against DDoS threats and attacks.

Telecentro will deploy Nokia’s IP solutions including Nokia’s 7750 Service Router (SR) platform, powered by FP5 routing silicon, and its 7250 interconnect routers (IXR) for broadband aggregation.

Telecentro chose Nokia mainly because of FP5, which can build higher capacity networks and are more energy efficient.

The FP5’s future-ready 800GE capability will also accelerate Telecentro’s ability to meet future traffic growth sustainably and at lower cost, Nokia claimed.

Telecentro will also deploy Deepfield Defender, Nokia’s DDoS security solution.

Defender detects DDoS, providing protection and mitigation.

The Deepfield Cloud Intelligence solution will also be deployed, which will give Telecentro cost-effective, real-time and actionable insight into all its network flows.

"This strategic project implies an extensive 100% 400GE deployment, the first one in the Latin American region. In addition, the comprehensive blend of Deepfield will provide inline protection from DDoS attacks and a complete view of the behaviour of the traffic in our network, serving a B2C and B2B ever-demanding market,” said Telecentro Argentina chief technology information officer Juan Luna.

“This network transformation will allow Telecentro to meet the increasing demand for ultrabroadband services throughout Argentina,” said Nokia market unit head for Southern Cone Fernando Sosa.

The network deployment also includes use of Nokia’s 1830 PSS-8 (Photonic Service Switch). The PSS-8 is part of Nokia’s family of DWDM multiservice, multilayer packet optical transport network (P-OTN) platforms from compact access to the converged OTN/DWDM core.
