Telecommunications company Verizon has partnered with the NFL to activate Verizon 5G to demonstrate upgraded network enhancements for NFL Draft Weekend throughout Kansas City.

Verizon recently made permanent network upgrades in Kansas City, including a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in the Kansas City International Airport.

In preparation for the 2023 NFL Draft Weekend, Verizon engineers have deployed temporary cell sites specifically covering the areas where 2023 NFL Draft events will take place.

These temporary assets will provide 5G Ultra Wideband coverage and use a performance enhancement technology.

Additional temporary in-building solutions will be added to Union Station and local hotels.

Experience the upgrade to Verizon Home Internet during the 2023 NFL Draft
Verizon is hosting an Escape Room activation for fans, showcasing Verizon Home Internet and +play, Verizon’s recently launched subscription hub where customers can shop for, manage and save on their favourite subscriptions in one place.

Meet and greet NFL stars at local Verizon retail locations
Football fans will also have the opportunity to snap a photo with a football star at NFL Draft-themed pop-up events in select local Verizon stores from 26-30 April.

As part of the experience, fans will learn more about being tech-ready for Draft Day, qualify for special promotions, and even take a photo of themselves at a mock Draft podium next to an NFL player while they’re in the store.

  • Superloop launches new brand campaign

Telco Superloop has launched a new brand campaign titled Refresh Your Internet.

Superloop says the campaign marks its first television commercial, and demonstrates the company’s commitment to refreshing every aspect of its internet offering, right down to refreshing a meme.

The campaign features former NFL American football player Anthony (Spice) Adams, who Superloop says turned into a social media sensation thanks to his memes and his iconic yellow suit. The creative, developed by advertising agency Leo Burnetts, is the first campaign under the new Superloop brand launched earlier this year.

Superloop says that with 300,000+ nbn subscribers, a team of more than 650 people, and a range of services for residential customers, SMEs and large enterprises, it is positioning itself as a “genuine challenger brand targeting organic market growth from the larger telcos”.

“Superloop has achieved steady and consistent growth for a number of years and now is the time for us to take our brand to the next level,” says Superloop’s CEO, Paul Tyler. “Our rebranding and this campaign will provide a strong platform for further customer acquisition, along with opportunities in the Business and Wholesale segments.”

Ben Colman, Superloop’s CMO, said the campaign is designed to showcase Superloop is a strong alternative to some of the traditional brands, and playful side.

"We know almost 60% of Aussies[1] have experienced issues with their internet in the last six months,” he says.

“But despite expecting the unlimited potential of the content we all access on the internet, consumers don't have the same expectation of their providers. We want to change that and position Superloop as the ISP who unleashes the unlimited possibilities of the internet. We've built out our network, we've invested in our team, we've developed game-changing products, and now we're ready to help you refresh your internet.

"We love bringing the internet into people's homes and businesses and this campaign shows our passion for all things internet and refreshing one of our favourite memes in Spice Adams. There is also a nostalgic nod to the early days of the internet where we've refreshed the sound of dial up," Colman concludes.

  • Netskope selects Fouladi as regional sales manager

Secure access service edge specialist Netskope appointed Daniel Fouladi to the role of regional sales manager telco and service provider for APAC.

"That such a sought-after expert in our space chose to join the Netskope ranks when he had offers from so many others is a strong endorsement for us," said Netskope APAC vice president Tony Burnside.

"There are few people with such solid expertise in both networking and security, and I'm sure Daniel will be instrumental in our ANZ, APAC and global growth plans over the next few years. His industry know-how and deep network knowledge will be invaluable internally, and I'm looking forward to working closely with him and seeing all the value he can bring to our team."

Fouladi joins Netskope from Verizon Business, where he was senior manager of SASE/SEE product strategy.

He previously spent 12 yers with Verizon, most recently as regional head of SDN/NFV/IP product strategy, and seven years at Uunet, most recently as manager of tier 3 IP support.

Fouladi started his career as a Unix admin at pioneering ISP OzEmail.

He studied at the University of Technology Sydney, and is an MEF-SNCP SDN/NFV certified professional.

"In the past couple of years, I have done a lot of analysis to identify what SASE solutions were available on the market and their many nuances. I had to look into how easy it was for the customer to enable and consume the service, what actually worked, how well it worked, and the diversity of commercial models behind them," said Fouladi.

"I started working closely with Netskope, who became one of Verizon's key partners, and I was super impressed by how agile and capable both team and solution were.

"I firmly believe that 2023 is the year of SASE. From my perspective, cloud adoption and SASE go hand-in-hand, and a company can't achieve digital transformation goals without a clear and consistent SASE strategy.
