Hi All
On my 14" MacBook Pro I have been playing HDR 4K YouTube videos fine however now they won't play in HDR anymore.
Is anybody else having this issue?
Thanks

Don't use Safari. I use Firefox most of the time. Love it. Use Safari off and on, but Firefox is my default browser.

Doesn’t play in HDR anymore in safari. Was fine a couple of days ago. What do you mean they won't play - what is it doing?
But when you say isn't playing - is there an error message?Doesn’t play in HDR anymore in safari. Was fine a couple of days ago.

Nope. Just doesn’t play in hdr. Will only play in 4K instead of 4K HDR.But when you say isn't playing - is there an error message?
HDR is gone for me too. No wonder why my YouTube stopped crashing with HDR on safari today.Nope. Just doesn’t play in hdr. Will only play in 4K instead of 4K HDR.

Noticed this today also. Even tried fullscreen and no change.
Not working here either. Tried Safari and Edge. Maybe Apple has removed the HDR ability from our new computers?

Those who noticed this, did you update Safari or OS between last seeing HDR and noticing it was gone in Safari?

Not playing in HDR or the little resolution icon is wrong?
I am seeing HDR footage but the icon isn't correct.

Make sure ‘Optimize Video Streaming While On Battery’ is not ticked.
Forget it. It’s not working either. YouTube disabled it for some reason.

Is it playing in HDR, i.e. are the bright areas brighter than the max SDR?Not playing in HDR or the little resolution icon is wrong?

You are misunderstanding me. I am not having any problems seeing HDR. I think YT has a problem with their icon.Have you updated your Apple software in the last couple days?
That's why I asked. I'm not seeing any HDR in the video you linked to, which at the point you suggest has very vibrant color in SDR but isn't over 500nits. (I prefer the fireworks later in that video as a test, obviously brighter than the SDR part of my screen even at low brightness.)You are misunderstanding me. I am not having any problems seeing HDR. I think YT has a problem with their icon.
Change user agent in developer settings and see if YouTube has changed something on their end?
Not seeing HDR in Chrome either, so I wonder if it's Youtube, but could still be Apple. I updated yesterday, but didn't notice anything that should affect this.Change user agent in developer settings and see if YouTube has changed something on their end?
