20 家公司生产了 55% 的塑料产品

55% 的世界塑料包装产品是由 20 家公司生产的。埃克森美孚（ExxonMobil）是最大的一次性使用塑料垃圾制造商，其产量高达 590 万吨；美国陶氏化学其次，生产了 550 万吨，第三是中国石化生产了 530 万吨。这 20 家公司中有 11 家位于亚洲、4 家位于欧洲，3 家北美，还有 1 家在中东，1 家在拉美。它们的塑料生产得到了巴克莱、汇丰、美银、花旗和摩根大通等银行的资助。一次性塑料几乎完全用化石燃料制造，是最难回收的材料，每年全球仅回收 10-15% 的一次性塑料。
