Two Chinese central government departments, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration, have urged local authorities to increase stimulus measures and boost electric vehicle adoption in rural areas, including giving cash incentives for electric vehicle buyers. Beijing has also called for greater efforts in developing public charging infrastructure in highways, as well as in local enterprises, residential areas, and bus stations according to a document published on May 14 by the NDRC and the National Energy Administration. The central government completely phased out subsidies for EV purchases at the beginning of this year after a two-year extension. However, some regional governments, such as Shanghai and Zhejiang, have released supportive measures to provide funding for EV purchases. [NDRC, in Chinese]
