Oh, what a joy to go computer-setup shopping — when your employer readily agrees to pay for everything. Today’s featured M2 Max MacBook Pro setup, which features a gorgeous 42-inch OLED smart TV as a display, came into being that very way.

Check out the setup’s gear, below, and see if that’s what you’d buy if your boss handed you a blank check.

Employer paid for this WFH M2 Max MacBook Pro set with a 42-inch LG OLED display

Video editor and Redditor Swagdaddy123456 showcased the enviably paid-for setup in post entitled, “My WFH/Video Editing Macbook Pro 2023 Setup.”

“My new job gave me a hefty budget for a work from home setup, so I went all out,” Swag said. “Shoutout to David Zhang on YouTube for much of the inspiration.”

Naturally, he got himself a 16-inch M2 Max MacBook Pro, Apple’s latest and greatest laptop. And he paired it with a 42-inch LG C2 OLED smart TV running at 120Hz via HDMI.

He added a rather nice Nuphy Halo96 mechanical keyboard and one of Logitech’s best mouses, the MX Master 3S. The rig sits on a Jarvis Fully Standing Desk Frame with an Ikea Karlby Countertop on it.

Don’t sit too close to that monster screen

Impressed with the big, high-contrast screen, commenters wanted to know how Swag likes compared to a more-typical monitor. But it was another commenter who replied.

“Fellow 42-inch C2 user here and going from 27 inch was an easy adjustment for me,” they said. “Just make sure you have enough desk that you can set the TV about 3 feet away from your eyeballs.”

Good advice, though 3 feet is still somewhat close for watching a giant TV. The big LG features 8 million self-lit OLED pixels with “infinite contrast,” plus the the α9 Gen 5 AI Processor 4K, which adapts settings to the content on the screen. It also boasts Filmmaker Mode, Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos and a game optimizer mode with some of the latest technology.

Kanto passive speakers with amplifier

Swag and his employer didn’t spare much expense in the audio department, either. A pair of Kanto YU Passive Speakers sit on stands on either side of the display. The speakers, with Kevlar woofers and silk-dome tweeters, require an amplifier that can supply 70 watts per channel into 4 ohms.

Swag accomplished the amplification with a Micca OriGain stereo amplifier, which you can get with or without a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It handles 50W x 2 power output into 4 Ohm or 30W x 2 into 8 Ohm amplification with speakers of any size.
