As we grow, we learn, and as we communicate with other people, we change. During this process, there are logical levels involved and a hierarchy within those levels. You may have heard about them as neurological levels since they determine how we think. Robert Dilts created this model, combining all these levels in a pyramid. These levels create our reality and the way we understand the world where we live. At the core of this mindset, they finally affect our personality. So let us discover how we perceive the world and what particular questions we have to ask to explore that.

1. Where
   At the bottom of this pyramid, we have to ask the question, “where and when.” By that, we mean that we have to figure out which environment is the place where things are happening. The environment consists of the people who are around us or the circumstances that are in the background. The best example to understand this is given by the twin brothers, who were separated right after birth. The first child lived with his biological mother, and a very rich family adopted the second one. We can all understand that the environment has a significant effect on the development of kids and the shaping of their personalities.
2. What
   The second easiest thing we can see around us is what choices we make. The activities that cover a serious amount of our time and the career which we chose. The behaviors we choose to have are what this level is all about. “What” gives a solid understanding of what is happening based on real facts.
3. How
   So, how do we move in this process of trying to reach our goals or live our lives? The resources we have available to do that are important. In our community, these resources would probably be linked to the financial situation of the family, etc. However, when it comes to analyzing a personality, this “how” is resolved by the individual’s capabilities. Not everyone can do everything. If you are jealous of a successful person, just think that regardless of how good they are at something, they are not as good at everything. Surely, there are things you can do better. These are a person’s tools to accomplish stuff. In some cases, they can play a significant role in the person’s choices. Someone who can run fast but is bad at calculating should be better as an athlete than as a scientist. Our own structure has to be taken into consideration to see what we will do.
4. Why
   The values and beliefs we have in life give us a way to translate life. Everyone has their own ethics, and based on them, they get to figure out if they should do something or not. The reason we will do something is of great importance in order to go ahead and start putting that into action. It gives us the motivation we need and clarifies the atmosphere from any second thoughts.
5. Who
   Our personality starts to appear somewhere along the way and is actually what defines us. Most people understand who they are when they sum up their characteristics, both positive and negative. Still, the personality goes far beyond that, and in many cases, we are not aware of it. It is usually the rest of the elements of this pyramid that give us an understanding of ourselves. However, if a different person was put in the exact same conditions, the outcome would be completely different.
6. What else
   Robert Dilts considered it essential to add one more parameter to the pyramid to discover what more is out there. The ultimate purpose that is linked to spirituality comes at this point. If you think about it, every living creature does not only have the instinct for survival but for reproduction as well. If the world was centered only around us, why would we want there to be a “to be continued” episode? Our instinct leads us to spirituality. It reassures us that there is something more out there that is quite important but that we cannot figure out what it is.
