据彭博和《纽约时报》11月3日消息，推特在发给员工的邮件中证实，将于当地时间周五开始在全公司范围裁员，“裁员旨在让公司走上健康的发展道路”。推特在邮件中表示：“办公室将暂时关闭以确保安全。”
根据内部消息和一位投资者说法，推特将裁员近50%，但最终数字尚未确认。
报道指出，美国联邦和加州法律要求公司在大规模裁员前预先通知，但不清楚马斯克是否如此行事。美国加州就业发展部发言人当地时间周四晚间表示，该机构没有收到来自推特的此类通知。
