When you’re new to the UI/ UX design industry, landing your first job can be tricky. There’s increasing competition since both roles are perfect for newbies and those looking to transition careers.

Many choose to teach themselves the basics and then work hard to get into the industry. Others fast-track this process by attending a UI/UX Design Bootcamp that guarantees a job after completing.

#1. American Express

American Express is a globally renowned payment cards services provider. They acquired Kabbage in 2020. Kabbage is a big data and FinTech company that is currently looking for a UX designer to join the team that will revamp its internal customer service platform.

The job calls for the designer to collaborate with the sales and support departments to restructure the UX workflow and data structure, map out service journeys, and work with other team members to create wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and more.

#2. IBM

International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is a tech giant that operates in over 171 countries. Working at such a big corporation is a great way to make your name in the industry and prove your chops.

If you’re in Baton Rouge, you should apply for their open Junior UI/UX designer role. You’ll be working with team members to conduct interviews and surveys, along with creating user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. You’ll also collaborate with various other teams.

The job is perfect for entry-level applicants. It requires 2 years of experience in UI/UX design, which most junior designers are bound to have.

If working with the bigwigs is not your thing, and you want to freelance, then Creative Circle is currently hiring a freelance UI designer to redesign a client’s website.

The short-term role is expected to last 1–2 weeks but has the potential for an extension. As a UI designer, you will create 4–5 mockup pages for the website. The client will provide the UX elements, including the wireframes, site architecture, creative briefs, and tool kit.

Epic creates healthcare software that empowers doctors and patients worldwide. They’re currently looking for a full-time UX designer in Madison, Wisconsin. You don’t need to have any healthcare experience for this role.

The UX designer is expected to work in all stages of the UX process, from user research to creating wireframes and prototypes and finally, working with developers to design the applications.

Towers Watson is the world’s third-largest insurance broker. It also specializes in risk management and advisory. The company is currently hiring Junior User Experience designers in multiple US locations.

Successful candidates will work with a team of designers, product managers, software developers, and stakeholders to offer UX solutions for both users and clients.
