Aviko Licenses Veneer and Thirsty Rough — A Perfect Font Pairing

Based in the Netherlands, Aviko’s mission is, “bringing joy to tables all over the world” and, “bringing joy from farm to fork.” And they do: Aviko is one of the largest providers of potato products on earth, and the largest provider of chilled potato products. Aviko chooses only the best potatoes, and ensures their processes leave the smallest possible ecological footprint. Aviko’s story is rooted in local cooperation and commitment to quality—in fact, their story started with 32 farmers sitting around a kitchen table in 1962. Today they’re a global player, but their commitment to creating value from potatoes remains unchanged.

Aviko is an acronym meaning “Aardappel verwerkende industrie Keppel en omstreken” (Potato processing industry in Keppel and the surrounding area). When Aviko needed a font that would express that sentiment succinctly, plus accurately represent their quality products, values, and history, they chose Veneer and Thirsty Rough from Yellow Design Studio. Veneer’s organic, weathered look speaks of farming at sunrise, the rich smell of earth, and of course, fresh and delicious foods. Thirsty Rough, with its hand painted quality and relatable script, directly evokes Aviko’s simple beginnings and commitment to honesty and excellence.
