How to see iPhone 14 in amazing augmented reality

iPhone 13 is still a week away but a major leak on Wednesday revealed many of the details of the iOS handset that’ll replace it in 2022. That includes renders of the iPhone 14 that you can check out in amazing augmented reality.

With AR, you can bring a virtual 3D version the device into your home or office and see it from every side. This might be the best way to see the coming end of the camera bump. And to wonder if Apple will really replace the screen notch with a “hole punch” camera.

Here’s how to see an AR mockup of iPhone 14.

Check out an AR iPhone 14

The source of the leaked iPhone 14 details is Jon Prosser’s Front Page Tech YouTube channel. Prosser collaborated with RendersbyIan to create augmented reality versions of the concept images.

To see these, visit the Front Page Tech website with an iPhone or iPad, then scroll down to “See iPhone 14 in Black” or “See iPhone 14 in Gold.” Tap on one or the other.

That will launch the ARKit augmented-reality viewer built into iOS and iPadOS. Give your device a few seconds to make a 3D map of your area, then the handset will appear in AR. You can see it by looking at it through your iPhone/iPad.

Want a better look? You can move around it to see every side. Or resize it with the two-finger zoom gesture. (Notice that the shinier black version reflects nearby objects.)

Is all this for real?

Front Page Tech alleges that the 2022 iPhone will bring an edge-to-edge display with no notch. A hole-punch camera will be in its place, at least in the iPhone 14 Pro Max model.

Also missing will be the camera hump. Instead, the lenses supposedly will sit flush with the handset’s body. That’ll be possible because the device will be thicker. And supposedly made of titanium.

Grab the iPhone 14 wallpapers, too

RendersbyIan needed wallpapers to put on his concept devices, so he created a set. These are also available for free download from the Front Page Tech website.

Just be warned that the images look phallic enough that they might qualify as NSFW.
