Reflexion Background Texture Volume 3 Takes Over Me

July 28, 2021

First impressions of Reflexion Background Texture Volume 3: goo* from 1950s science fiction; opening credits of James Bond films; Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds; the Lizard King’s hot tub; dissected outer-space dinosaurs; post-apocalyptic chemical oceans that smell like roses and taste like taffy; Pink Floyd’s Interstellar Overdrive; navigating the asteroid belt hungover; Fordite

Enough. The possibilities are endless with this beautiful gunk.

Nicholas Lokasasmita created this gorgeous lunacy with his hands, using actual liquid and gel materials and tons of experimentation. We can only assume that creating this product was monstrously fun, as evidenced by the zany result. Hear the screams. Witness the splatters. Take the slimy plunge. It’s superlatively super in its essential superbitude.

We’re not surprised. Lokasasmita is a creative wildman, full of knotted avenues and pretzel-tied tributaries, veins of color, bursts of light. Frenzies of inspiration seize him like solar flares of the mind, tempests of the heart, earthquakes of the soul. Crumb, Van Gogh, Pollock, Franz Marc, a shattering glass, a racing car shaking with bass…it’s all there in Lokasasmita’s art. Chaos and collisions are meticulously planned, and somehow not at all. And the man claims he’s naive. The man claims he’s artless. He is a titan among mortals. May we all end up as pairs of his smashed glasses.

So let’s go mad with Reflexion Background Texture Volume 3. Let’s go another round with the whirling muse, and whip up a shattered multiverse of color, slather, and cream. Join in the fun now.
