Neil McMurchy joins Clear Dynamics board

Australian AI scale-up Clear Dynamics has appointed IT analyst Neil McMurchy to its board of directors.

Clear Dynamics said his priority will be advising on the company’s sales and partner program overhauls.

McMurchy spent more than two decades at global analyst firm Gartner, most recently as research vice president, growth strategies.

He joins former NTT CEO Steve Nola, former Deloitte global chief strategy officer John Meacock, Colinton Capital partners founder Simon Moore, and OIF Ventures partner, Jerry Stesel, on the Clear Dynamics board.

Clear Dynamics is responsible for creating AI-enabled operating system aieos, which uses machine learning to help enterprises build better software applications faster.

McMurchy said he was drawn to the company as its technology helps solve a “black hole” in enterprise IT—modernising business-critical legacy applications.

“After three decades in the IT industry I thought I’d seen it all, that was until I saw Clear Dynamics,” McMurchy revealed. “The problem they help solve plagues almost every major enterprise and public sector agency, one that until now has never had a simple solution – transforming the truly business critical applications that organisations live or die on.

“These are legacy applications that have been built and reiterated upon over decades, things like loan origination for banks, billing systems at telcos and energy suppliers, even hospital patient administration. Despite a wave of digital transformation initiatives in recent years, these applications have been left behind in a black hole because the traditional approach meant there was too much cost, complexity, and risk involved in changing them.”

Clear Dynamics removes these roadblocks as it flips the software development cycle on its head. Rather than offer a pre-defined product which every enterprise must be “configured” into, Clear Dynamics starts with the organisation’s data.

Its aieos platform ingests the application’s metadata in a highly automated way before cloning it in the cloud.

Its cloud-agnostic approach allows organisations to choose the best platform for their unique business requirements.

Once this process is complete, the application can be modernised in real-time without impacting production.

Clear Dynamics claims this not only delivers rapid ROI, but also future-proofs the organisation as the application can be easily updated in response to emerging business needs and regulatory requirements.

Clear Dynamics CEO Dimitri Lanssens said Neil’s appointment was a coup as it embarked on an ambitious journey to scale the business 10 years after it was founded in Bendigo, Victoria.

“Neil is an expert at scaling emerging technology firms and understands the nuances in the various go to market strategies,” Lanssens said. “Having someone of Neil's stature join our board, knowing he could have joined just about any board, really validates our approach. Lanssens said Neil’s initial priority would be advising the company on building out a partner program that would serve as the engine room of its scale-up strategy.
