Introducing Histamine Alert -- the Telegram bot (@histalert_bot) designed for those managing Histamine Intolerance and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. Utilizing Artificial Intelligence, Histamine Alert serves as a focused resource, offering detailed insights into the histamine content, histamine-releasing potential, and DAO enzyme effects of various food ingredients.
The essence of Histamine Alert lies in its ability to act as a centralized database, streamlining the search for histamine-related information. By providing users with accessible, data-driven insights, the bot aims to empower individuals with the knowledge needed to make informed dietary decisions, tailored to their specific health requirements.
@andrew_leader Hi :) Thanks for your feedback and for asking an interesting question!
The underlying language model that powers the bot learns by recognising patterns in the use of words and phrases together within a vast dataset (i.e., co-occurrences). This enables it to make connections between various foods and their histamine levels based on their frequency of mention together. Such language model is also capable of identifying both direct and indirect links. For instance, it understands that strawberries are often associated with potential to be histamine liberators, and that aged cheeses, even when not directly mentioned alongside "high histamine," are related to higher histamine content. This understanding also extends to recognizing hierarchical relationships, such as identifying Gruyère as a type of aged cheese, which is commonly linked to high histamine, suggesting that Gruyère might also have high histamine levels. Additionally, the model can dissect complex dishes, like paella, into their basic ingredients and provide an analysis for each component :)
Yep, I am very interested in teaming up with nutritionists and/or other domain experts in the area, but finding them is rather tricky 😅 My main goal would be to improve the model's accuracy. Right now, I am also collecting more data on histamine for future updates, and getting real feedback from users would be really helpful. Since we've just started, I'm looking forward to seeing how much we can achieve 🙂
