RGA Expands Michael Titshall’s role as CEO in Australia

RGA has extended Michael Titshall’s role as CEO in Australia to encompass leadership across the Asia Pacific region as the new regional chief executive. This role, recently established by RGA, is in line with its global strategy of “distributed creativity,” focusing on fostering collaboration and innovation within its network.

Earlier this year, RGA consolidated its EMEA operations under unified leadership, and now Titshall will collaborate with general managers in Singapore, Japan, China, and Indonesia—Marianne Whitman, Anthony Baker, Barry Peng, and Bambang Witoyo respectively—to expand RGA’s presence in the region.

While 2022 was marked by significant changes globally within the agency, including leadership exits and restructuring, the Asia-Pacific division notably stood out, demonstrating resilience and growth. The region experienced a 21% revenue increase and a 40% surge in profits. Success was attributed to ventures like RGA3 in the metaverse, NFT endeavors, and the Data Lab, which enhanced effectiveness for key clients such as Google, Nike, Toyota, and Unilever.

Titshall’s expanded role comes following Australia’s exceptional performance last year and the departure of Dorothy Peng, the senior vice president and managing director of Asia, in November 2023. Peng had been instrumental during RGA’s business restructuring in Asia and Australia in June 2022. Before joining RGA, Titshall led CHE Proximity through a period of significant growth and received numerous awards and accolades. As the youngest CEO in RGA’s network at 38 years old, he will now oversee operations in Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, and Indonesia, aiming to replicate his success in Australia by securing major accounts such as TPG Telecom and McDonald’s.

Robin Forbes, RGA’s Global CEO, praises Titshall’s exceptional leadership, citing RGA Australia as evidence of his ability to cultivate environments conducive to innovative work. Forbes expressed confidence in Titshall’s capability to expand RGA’s expertise in the APAC region, acknowledging his track record in driving industry progress and fostering an environment conducive to boundary-pushing work.

Victoria Curro will continue as the managing director in Australia to ensure continuity, while the creative teams will remain under the leadership of Chief Creative Officer Seamus Higgins and VP ECD Ben Miles.
