Question Asus Unlock App not working

It seems not good for Zenfone 9 & 10 users. We need to put pressure on Asus. They can't just remove this possibility. I will definitely return my Zenfone 10 if it is true.

Asus keeps us in dark and they haven't sent any official information about this. I suggest everyone with Zenfone 9 & 10 to write and ask Asus support team about unlock bootloader possibility.

I asked Asus support when it would be possible to unlock boot again on Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10 and the answer was no. Could not re-unlock the BOOT on these phones
This is unbelievable and unacceptable. We need to make some noise and get this reverted asap. I tweeted gamers nexus and will make some posts on reddit.

Not sure if this news will pan out true, but there's hope:

This is really odd behavior. Having worked in software for 13 years, you always keep the current working server up for as long as possible. At most the downtime is 48 hours, but it’s usually a couple hours if not minutes—not months. The PR dept.’s renege might be a sign of damage control after enough folks caught wind. I’ll believe their walk-back when I see it, but I’m happy I too caught this thread before making a purchase.

It’s times like this you wish the kernel & OS were GPL 3 vs. GPL 2 + Apache 2. They release the kernel code for user to look at, but without a requirement to allow flashing modification, Asus isn’t obligated to do release this tool to allow users to do anything with that code—even if that leads to ill will (but that’s capitalism for you). They’ll likely argue its about keeping warranty (despite the stingy 2-year updates) or some attestation requirement, but purchasing a several-hundred-dollar device should imply ownership & the freedom to do what you want with said device, not renting from a corporation & only approved uses.
