...That default response can mean nothing. I have worked on Tech Support for companies before and many times you tell people that so they can stop contacting but in reality you dont know the answer either.
That may be possible, but it's worth noting that the person I spoke to didn't need anymore than a five second explanation to understand the issue. Had he been trying to fob me off, I think it would have taken his brain a little longer than 5 seconds to process what the problem was and decide to gaslight me

Finally managed to force another email out of the executive office today - unable to grasp that KG isn't the same as SIM locked so now saying I'm wrong in my assertions
That's after last Wednesday agreeing there is a problem and it is working on a solution asap - asap meaning it doesn't respond to emails and the lies about trying to call me

I don't even want to root the phone, haven't rooted since Nexus 6. It just bugs me that I can't 😀

US T-Mobile device here, literally opened less than six hours ago. NO toggle option, and KG status is checking. Assuming the 7 day wait period needs to go through.

Yeah, not surprising. I'm sure there'll be a method eventually like the bypasses for the S21, but we'll see. Shizuku is enough for most things anyway.

Seems to be the Samsung recruitment policy

Week later samsung confirmed trade in, now I give them time till Monday to lift knoxguard.
Spoken with three different agents. One of them was completely unaware of the developer options submenu. I let her remote connect via their own Smart Tutor application, she was speechless when she saw that menu, and has asked me whether I have checked it entirely, despite me showing her a screenshot of exactly where that option is located on a phone w/o KG lock on, or the fact that you can just use the search function. Also took me half an hour with each individual to teach them the difference between a locked bootloader and a device or SIM lock.
Never again, these people Samsung UK has outsourced their support to are completely clueless. They are there for "I can't find the power button" and "my Phone icon has disappeared from my screen" kind of questions.

Can confirm the executive office is equally useless
Hopefully the legal department will be more understanding when I file (awaiting my graphite s23+)

So as you know, I eventually got them to change my kg active status after numerous calls... Then I decided not to bother rooting.

After I factory reset my phone so I could set it up, oem unlock disappeared again. No big issue as I'm not rooting.

Today I did the ota update and the phone restarted. Oem unlock is back again. Weird.

They've clearly got a problem

Oh wait it's disappeared again. Guess it was only active whilst "android is finishing updating"

But it's not me though is it, it's the weight of consumer law that will prevent me suffering a loss

Good Luck with that. The wheels of Justice turn slowly against big corporations. By the time you possibly win we will be using S24's or S25's.

  • I just spent a total of 97 minutes on the phone to various support departments in Samsung. For the first 75 minutes, the support person didn't even comprehend the problem, telling me after seeing the download mode screenshot that it's waiting for a download that I need to complete, that's why I have the problem!!

Finally, they gave me a different number to call. The person on the other end of this number comprehended the problem immediately. They gave me clear and unambiguous feedback
    1. Samsung knows about and acknowledges that there is a problem with numerous retail versions of the S23U where Knox Guard is set to Active mode instead of Completed and the bootloader is locked
    2. They will be releasing a software update soon to fix the problem
    3. No, they cannot give an ETA on the software update
    Hope this helps.

The next straw clutch is hope for a new firmware. I can see the logic in blocking them till its fully released to stop people selling preorders early

Not sure if it count! But my wife's S23 got that toggle, both phones arrived two days ago.

Does your wife want to swap?
Phones, not husbands ofc. Although I'm open to it

Y'all is funny! It almost sounds like waiting 7 days for the phone to unlock is the end of humanity.

Its a £1000 phone, it should just work out of the box, Its your hardware, you should be able to do what you want

Its the same situation from this old and very long thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...n950f-fd-oem-unlock-option-available.3673140/

Some people from various regions have it happening, and some don't. even accross the same region, no one ever found out why.

Point is, Samsung shouldn't hide this from us, this is your hardware, And Samsung isn't telling us clearly if it unlocks in 168 hours, its all hidden and undocumented...

The next miracle is release day
Received my s23u on 7th and no, I still do not have OEM Unlock toggle in developer options

(I don't WANT oem unlock lol just replying to OP)
