What I'm listening to today: "Silent Assassin", Tkay Maidza & Flume

Tkay Maidza is a Zimbabwean-Australian singer/songwriter/producer/rapper with consistently next-level production. This collaboration is somewhere in a gray area between trap and dubstep, and more than anything sounds like a sound some sort of industrial machinery would make to signal a fault requiring operator intervention. Atop this Tkay's vocals are an absolute onslaught. Brutalist music

Despite rationally knowing that this would obviously work, I cannot believe that this worked

The 8088 is constructed from a silicon wafer with polysilicon wiring and a single metal layer on top. (Modern chips can have a dozen layers of metal.) The metal obscured the name, making it unreadable on the chip until I dissolved the metal with acid.

A closeup of the chip showing a bunch of vertical lines, the chip's metal layer. The Hebrew letters are mostly obscured with just some darker horizontal regions.

I found a hidden name in the Intel 8088 processor. The 8088 was a derivative of the 8086 processor introduced in 1979 and best known as the processor in the IBM PC. I dissolved the chip's metal layer and found "רפי", the name in Hebrew of Rafi Retter, the chip's engineer.

A closeup of the silicon die showing Hebrew letters made from brown lines of polysilicon. The photo has a bunch of purple regions, due to oxide layer that wasn't fully dissolved.

I really was not into SF5 but SF6 recaptures whatever it was that made SF4 fun

Something about even numbers in this series

Geez SF6 at EVO was incredibly entertaining this year

@mcc My home made Lisp interpreter generated a lambda for me, and there was a moment of shocked (but delighted) surprise.

A trace of evaluating the expression '(RANGE 0 10)', which graphically looks extraordinarily like the Greek letter lambda.

Okay so at EVO they had like, the actual people from Capcom who compose the Street Fighter music come out and do a little concert during setup, and I was like hmm man I dunno if this is the right energy

BUT THEN

The band STUCK AROUND

And every time one of the competitors walk out

They have LIVE WALK OUT MUSIC

It is actually incredible

@duk3luk3 @mcc clearly we need envenv to manage all these environment managers

Until today, I never thought I wanted to hear a fusion jazz cover of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme. And I still don't think I want to hear it

Limited availability in select areas

The crowd at Evo is chanting "Evo!"

It was only just now I realized venv and pyenv are two different programs and I am experiencing distress

@mcc This situation occurs when you map a triangle to a spheroid.

@mcc A triangle is 3 dimensional if all the verticies (sp) meet at 90 degrees.
