In interviews with Yahoo Finance's Seana Smith at the KPMG Women's Leadership Summit, former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, seven-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix, LPGA player Stacy Lewis, and KPMG U.S. Deputy Chair and COO Laura Newinski discuss what needs to be done to close the leadership gap for women.

CONDOLEEZZA RICE: You walk into the room, and somebody looks at you like you're in the wrong meeting, you have to be strong enough to say, no, I'm in the right meeting, and pretty soon you're going to know that. And that takes mentorship. And that takes having people help you along.

LAURA NEWINSKI: It takes a village, right? It takes planting seeds, harvesting some seeds, and doing some networking, creating cohorts of women who can support each other on that journey to a successful climb into the C-suites of their companies.

ALLYSON FELIX: I think we're seeing just the momentum of people speaking out. There's power in that. And there's power in the collective. And I think athletes aren't really scared any longer to talk about issues that they're passionate about, and pay being one of those.

STACY LEWIS: A lot of times, it just takes-- it takes one company and one person stepping up and say, I want to change this, I want to help narrow this gap. And it's going to take time, but, you know, we're making great strides.

CONDOLEEZZA RICE: Sometimes, I think we almost talk about the barriers as if they're impenetrable. And they're not. And so I say to young women all the time, it's there for you. Go get it.
