Samsung Galaxy Watch6 series will boast the Exynos W930 SoC

Samsung is gearing up to introduce its new Samsung Galaxy Watch6 series. Today, the vanilla watch’s name was spotted in certification on the Bluetooth SIG website. The listing also confirms the model number S5E5515. It’s the same model number as the Exynos W920 used in the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 series. According to GSMArena, while the Galaxy Watch6 is touted to bring the Exynos 930 SoC, the same model number suggests the hardware is the same as the W920.

Exynos W390 seems to be an incremental upgrade

The Exynos W930 SoC will improve connectivity since it supports Bluetooth 5.3 and better Wi-Fi. It will bring the same 5nm manufacturing process as the W920. The certification also confirms that the processor needs an additional RF chip for a full Bluetooth + Wi-Fi solution.

Interestingly, this contradicts previous rumors pointing to the use of a new Exynos 980 on the Samsung Galaxy Watch6. Perhaps, this chipset is still in development, or an alternative scenario it’s coming only with the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Pro.

Samsung will hold a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26. During the event, the firm will disclose the Galaxy Watch6 series, Galaxy Z Flip5, Fold5, and the new Galaxy Tab S9 series. We assume that more details will leak in the next few days, but we don’t have to wait much longer to know these devices in their final form.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 alleged specs

According to the reputed IceUniverse (via TechAdvisor), the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 will bring a larger display of 1.47 inches. It’s an incremental increase over the Watch 5’s 1.4-inch display, but still, it’s an increase. The tipster also suggests a curved glass display and slimmed-down bezels to take on the Pixel Watch.

The Dutch tech website GalaxyClub, states that the battery size will also be increased on the new watch. The leaked images reveal that the 40 mm watch will have an increase from 284 mAh to 300 mAh, while the 44mm option will raise from 410 mAh to 425 mAh. As per The Verge, the new watch will bring improvements to the software with the One UI 5 Watch update. It will also bring improved sleep tracking, personalized heart rate zones for exercise, an extension for Route Workout mode, and an updated Emergency SOS mode.

The Galaxy Watch6 will launch alongside a Pro variant and a new Classic version with a rotating crown.
