The Corsair Katar Elite wireless gaming mouse captures every move with absolute precision

Storage and computer peripheral manufacturer Corsair has packed huge agility, programmability, tracking and precision, even RGB lighting in its astonishingly lightweight Katar Elite wireless gaming mouse, coming in at 69g.

Corsair is no stranger to gaming accessories; my favourite gaming headset is the super-comfy Corsair Virtuoso RGB wireless XT, and the Corsair K100 RGB keyboard is the most feature-packed and robust yet responsive keyboard I've ever seen. And, while that keyboard is massive, Corsair has taken a different line with the Katar Elite wireless gaming mouse. It's incredibly lightweight - a mere 69 grams - and when you hold it you wonder if it's only a shell.

Yet, using it tells a different story; it responds immediately to your every whim but remains firm on your desk or mousepad without fear of it slipping or sliding by accident. It's the same feeling as driving a sports car for the first time, how it grips the road, and how you feel like the road is at your service.

Despite being made up of mostly air, it's also clearly packed with parts and smarts. It features 26K DPI tracking, can take up to 50kg of acceleration, and brings 650 IPS tracking speed.

It connects via a detachable USB-C cable and also serves wirelessly connecting to your device via low-latency Bluetooth or via Corsair's SlipStream wireless technology. A tiny USB-A SlipStream adapter is included to plug into your computer, with the mouse then connecting wirelessly to it. The battery life is an outstanding 110 hours for Bluetooth or 60 hours for SlipStream wireless, giving you great gaming sessions before you need to charge again.

Via the Corsair iCue software platform, you can program RGB lighting animations on two lit areas - the Corsair logo and a small light under the scroll wheel, and you can also remap the six buttons - two regular mouse buttons, the scroll wheel, two thumb-accessible side buttons, and one other button on top of the mouse - to any other action you prefer.

The Corsair Quickstrike mouse buttons have zero gap between them and the underlying Omron switches, providing immediate responsivity, and the switches are guaranteed for 60 million clicks.

In short, this is a hugely feature-packed mouse in a deceptively simple, subtle package that proves you don't need a hefty weighted mouse to enjoy precision marksmanship in all your gaming experiences.

iTWire has been using the Corsair Katar Elite wireless gaming mouse for ourselves - enjoying such titles as Redfall, Fortnite, and other shooters and first-person RPGs where the reaction time between your brain, fingers, and computer all matter. My first reaction on unboxing was surprised at how light the mouse was and if it was not simply a store display sample, which swiftly turned to surprise at how amazingly responsive the mouse is, upping my game by diminishing recoil, moving when and where I want, while also not moving when I don't want it to. This is a great gaming mouse and definitely worth a good look.
