SAP Business One SDK licenses: Implementation version vs. Development version vs. Solution version

35 Views Last edit 44 minutes ago 8 rev

1. What is the difference between the following types of SDK licenses:

  • Implementation Version
  • Development Version
  • Solution Version

2. What can be done in one license that we cannot do in another? When should we choose to buy which license?

I have read this blog post: SDK Licensing. But it is a very old article dated 2009. The blog mentions:

"If you wish to develop an add-on that will uses the UI API only then you only need the Software Development Kit – Implementing License that is delivered free with the Professional user license. It is a concurrent license and will allow you only to change/add to/update the SAP Business One GUI. You cannot access Database tables or Business Objects in your add-on if you only have the Implementation license."

3. But what use is an add-on which can only use UI API.. Any production grade addon will need to interact with the database using DI API.

4. If a customer has an SDK Implementation Version license, then using his license, can we write code on his system using Visual Studio (it is a utility addon which just sends mail and updates a UDF, so leaving source code on the customer system is not an issue), and can we use DI API or not?

Many points are not clearly mentioned in any of the articles.

Even the License Guide for SAP Business One 10.0 does not provide any details on the different types of SDK licenses. The entire topic on SDK only has 2-3 paras without a single mention of the license types.
