在前不久于深圳举办的闪存峰会上，三星预告十年内单SSD的容量即达到1PB（1024TB），外界预计这将依赖于千层堆叠和QLC/PLC闪存技术。
没想到，
日前，铠侠（原东芝）研究人员已经成功开发出更新的存储颗粒，HLC闪存（Hepta-level），也就是7bits/cell，单位密度比QLC几乎翻倍。
铠侠透露，它们使用单晶硅取代了多晶硅作为内部通道材料，运行时的电流噪声据说也得到降低。
HLC的研制成功意味着，即便堆叠技术没有任何改进，SSD的容量也能实现直接翻倍。
