3月25日，据《华尔街日报》报道，Twitter表示，将从4月1日开始取消那些在马斯克接管该平台之前验证过帐户的用户的传统的免费的蓝V认证标记。Twitter表示，已有传统蓝V认证标记的用户可以付费订阅Twitter Blue服务。
自去年11月以来，传统的蓝V认证标记与通过Twitter Blue验证的账户在该平台上共存，Twitter Blue是马斯克宣传的一项订阅服务。任何用户只需每月支付7美元，就可以通过Twitter Blue获得验证，取得蓝V标记和其他福利。
蓝V认证徽章之前只为政治人物、名人、记者和其他公共人物预留，但在推出订阅服务后，任何人都可以付费获得。马斯克希望借此为Twitter增加收入，以弥补广告收入的流失。
马斯克去年12月初表示，基础的Twitter Blue会员看到的广告只有非会员的一半，该公司明年还将推出更高级别的无广告会员。
