Kagi 再次漲價

Kagi 在 2022 年九月的時候漲過一次：「Kagi 公佈了收費三個月後的進展」，當時的漲法是把本來不限次數搜尋的方案從 $10/mo 漲到 $19/mo，並且取名叫做 Kagi Unlimited。

這次則是宣佈要在 3/15 把無限搜尋的方案漲到 $25/mo：

We are also introducing the Ultimate plan with unlimited searches for $25/month.

而且本來的用戶 (應該是包括最早期的 $10/mo 與後來的 $19/mo 方案) 都會被強制改到 $25/mo：

Every existing subscriber will have their current subscription honored until expiration. That means if you are a subscriber at the time of the new plan rollout, you will still get unlimited searches as a part of your original plan until your existing subscription expires or is set to renew.

在 Hacker News 上的討論「Update to Kagi Search Pricing (kagi.com)」可以看到很多人都注意到 Kagi 想要投入 AI 的問題：

This is so incredibly disappointing and basically confirms that we're (at least in part) paying for their AI experiments - something that I personally am not at all interested in.

這次漲價然後把錢拿去投入 AI？而且看起來整個 Kagi 不是自己掌握 machine learning 技術，是用其他人的 API (應該就是 OpenAI)。這鐵定是一堆人不買單...

月底要 renew 的時候再來看看吧...

來測試 Kagi 這個搜尋引擎

大概一個月前的時候在 Hacker News 上看到「Kagi: A Premium Search Engine (kagi.com)」這篇，在講一個新的搜尋引擎，就填了一下單子等邀請，過了一個月後剛剛收到邀請，就註冊起來用看看。 測了一下沒什麼大問題，中英文都算正常，接下來就是先掛成日常用的 search engine，然後看看品質如何。另外在 Hacker News 的討論裡面也有不少人在討論費用的問題，對我來說，如果搜尋結果的品質夠好的話，我大概可以接受到 US$99/mo？畢竟是靠網路這個 ecosystem 吃飯... 然後從技術的角度來看，看起來網站入口是掛在 GCP 上面，這會不會有點敏感呢...

    這跟我理解的好像不一樣，我理解到的是這樣：

    去年9月公布了 $19 的 team plan，個人 premium 還是 $10 沒變

    原本的 $10 plan 在 3/15 ~ 下次 renew 前，plan 會被更名成 Legacy Professional，還是可以無限搜尋、AI 互動限 50 次

    renew 後，plan 會被更名成 Early Adopter Professional，按照新的 Pro plan 計費規則以及 AI 互動消耗 quota 規則，跟非 Early Adopter 的差別是 quota 多 300（700 → 1,000）

    所以想要換成新 unlimited plan 的話，月費會一口氣從 $10 →$25
    換算下來，月搜尋量要超過 2,000 次 (原本的 $10 + $0.015 * 1000) 才會打平

    我自己是沒有月搜尋超過 2,000 過，所以應該會維持 $10 plan 然後稍微改變一些搜尋的習慣吧，例如偶爾用的網站也 bookmark 起來本機搜尋就好...
