F1 23 is coming soon, but don’t expect a “fresh start”

EA Sports decided to take a ride at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix. It starts this weekend, and the company decided to use this opportunity to tease F1 23. A few days ago, EA decided to tease the game as a “fresh start” for the racing series. However, it may not be a real “fresh start” if you’re waiting for massive changes or innovation.

The first teasers lifted speculation about the upcoming F1 23. Many started to wonder if it would be made from the ground, with a new engine for graphics and physics. After all, the series is somewhat obsolete and could do well if certain changes and improvements. However, we don’t know if that will be the case.

F1 23 won’t revolutionize the series

As per a report from RacingGames, the game may not really deliver a fresh start. The game probably will use a new update for the Codemaster EGO engine. It was last updated when the series launched F1 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One. With F1 2021 and F1 2022 Codemasters used the same engine as the F1 2015, and therefore, the series looks obsolete and the physics is not on par with modern standards. With the rise of the new console generation, the differences became even more evident.

F1 23

A new rumor from industry insider Tom Henderson, says that F1 23 will come with an engine upgrade. Moreover, it will expand the game with a new F1 World mode. Moreover, the rumors point to a switch to the Frostbite engine. It’s the same used on other EA Sports games like FIFA, Madden, and NHL. It’s not the most cutting-edge engine but is far superior to EGO.

Despite the somewhat promising rumors, it seems that the game will stick with the old engine. According to Formula Modding Team Founder, Josh Merrin, F1 23 will still use the EGO engine.

Lando Norris complained about the physics of the F1 series. According to him, the lack of proper traction makes the cars harder to control in the games than in the real life.
