This looks great, I'll check it out. Congrats.

I assume this is a typo on the homepage: "IA-boosted" ?

Also, great vid! Would love to know who made it (if it wasn't you guys internally!)

@matt_harbord Hey ! Erwan from Talers here ✌️ Thank you for telling us will fix it this morning 😉 We're delighted to know you like the video! We hired a local company to make it and they outdid themselves.

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions !

Hey, amazing people! Take my congrats on the recent launch of Talers on PH! 🎉 Talers looks interesting! I'm not a writer(just CEO) and use Grammarly for my work.

How do you differ from Grammarly? What is your secret sauce which helps you to overcome competitors?

@denis_galka Hey Denis, thanks for the message!

We are not direct competitors of Grammarly. Grammarly is an online proofreader, while Talers is a writing program like Word or Google Docs.

You can use Grammarly in Talers, but not the other way around.

Think of Talers as a better Google Docs (in the making 😉), with Grammarly-like proofreading natively built in.

We use LanguageTool internally for proofreading. LanguageTool is not as powerful as Grammarly in English, but it can handle many more languages.

A few other things that make Talers different:

- slightly cheaper ($10 vs. $12 per month for an annual subscription), - handles translation between different languages, - will allow you to generate content with GPT-based AI, - is open-source, - will soon have a built-in thesaurus to quickly find a synonym.

As for our secret sauce, we focus on:

- product quality (simple, fast and well-designed), - usability (we want writing to be super-easy), - and powerful technologies (most competitors don't do complex tasks like proofreading, reformulation, collaboration and thesaurus integration).

@gin_quin Thank you for your answer! Sounds great. It seems like you've made a great job. Btw, which languages do you handle?

@gin_quin @denis_galka

As of now we only have French and English user interface afterward we will focus on the following languages: Portuguese, German, and Spanish, However, we can provide correction in at least 30 different languages.

Hi Matthieu, congrats on your Product Hunt launch! Looking forward to using Talers for more content creation for SEO.
@samuel_kuwano Thanks Samuel! Talers is quite suitable for SEO. Personally, I write all my posts and articles with Talers 😉 We eventually plan to have a simple system to publish a Talers document to popular platforms like WordPress or Medium.

Hi everyone! Matthieu here, founder and CTO of Talers 👋

I am a professional developer and an amateur fiction novelist, and despite much research, I could never find a writing environment that... felt right.

The standards (Word, Google Docs) are bloated and not ergonomic. No challenger has managed to bring a truly differentiating product.

So, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and bring to the world the writing software that was missing 🚀

At Talers, we are building a writing environment that you're going to love.

Here are some features you can enjoy today!

✨ Unlimited projects 📂 Draggable files and folders 🤝 Real-time collaboration (currently in progress) 🧘‍♀️ Focus mode to boost your writing ✔ Descriptions and to-dos for project management 🖍 Advanced proofreading (no need for a third-party corrector ✨) 🤖 AI to rephrase your sentences and generate content (the content generation is coming very soon) 📃 Auto-scrolling (keep the text you write in the center of the screen) 🎨 A clear UI

At the very beginning, the project was intended for authors all around the globe. But quickly, we realized we could cater the needs of everyone who write on a daily basis.

Talers is a great fit for:

- journalists, - screenwriters, - editors, - students, - and, of course, authors.

Our main guideline is to grow alongside our users to provide the best writing experience.

We launched the open beta on November 25th with a limited amount of features and kept updating it. We feel that the current version is a good compromise between early stage and functionality.

The official release is scheduled for April 2023. In the meantime, Talers is completely free to use. Early adopters will also be offered unique discounts.

What to expect in the next few months:

➡️ Native access to dictionaries ➡️ Translation ➡️ Desktop and mobile app for 100% offline support ➡️ Writing statistics ➡️ Split view (open multiple documents simultaneously) ➡️ Rewards ➡️ Export to EPUB and DOCX

Waiting for your feedback! 😀
