As a designer I spend a lot of my time in Figma. Grabbing copy from around the web and pasting it into the app (be it lorem ipsum or actual copy) is super time consuming. After toying around with the ChatGPT demo I realized a generative copy plugin within Figma would speed up my workflow A LOT.

@nhuesmann and I spun up a prototype in early December to gauge interest and after the huge response we sprinted to get Writer live on the Figma plugin store. Happy to share the live plugin with you all today!

You can now select a text layer (or multiple text layers) and quickly create product, marketing, legal, or placeholder copy. It's easy to iterate and refine your writing too. We've seen people use Writer to create pitch decks, emails, marketing websites, disclaimer copy, and more.

I’m Nathan, co-creator and developer of Writer. Though I’m not a designer, I spend a good amount of time in Figma when building products. When @soren_iverson pitched me the idea for Writer, I instantly saw the potential for vastly speeding up designer workflows. We shipped the Writer beta a week later and have been improving it since.

We’re thrilled to announce the full release of Writer today! This launch is just the beginning- as Soren mentioned, we have some awesome new features planned for the next update, all of which are a direct response to customer feedback.
