Samsung Galaxy S24 Will Cancel Plus Model Due To Bleak Sales

Galaxy S24 Ultra

All smartphone makers revise their lineups from time to time. Samsung is no exception. You might like the Galaxy S Plus models. But the truth is that it doesn’t perform well in terms of sales. The latter is a clear hint for any brand to discontinue this or that model. If nothing surprising happens, the Samsung Galaxy S24 will have no Plus model, The Elec reports.

As you know, there are three models in every Galaxy S lineup: the standard, Plus, and Ultra. In this regard, though the S23 series will still include the Plus model, starting from the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, it will be canceled.

A surprising news, according to reliable Korean media reports, the Galaxy S24 series is likely to remove the S24+ model,😑 cherish your Galaxy S23+, make an appointment here: https://t.co/KOb0p1uU0L pic.twitter.com/w5zy5p8jP1

At the moment, the Galaxy S24 project is called DM. It has two sub-projects, DM1 and DM3. They correspond to the vanilla version and the Ultra version. As the DM2 lacks, we have every reason to think the Plus model does not exist.

Of course, there is always the possibility that Samsung might add the DM2 later, as we are a year away from the Galaxy S24 launch.

On the other hand, even if Samsung cancels the Plus models, it will be pretty logical. We mean the smartphone market doesn’t perform well. As The Elec explains, “the market has matured, and most consumers either buy the premium model or the budget model in developed countries. The Plus model from the iPhone 14 was also the most unpopular among the four models, representing this trend.”

Samsung Galaxy S24 Cancelation Is Logical

In order to understand how the market performs, let’s take a quick look at the last few years’ sales: 1.47 billion shipped smartphones in 2018, 1.376 billion in 2019, 1.268 billion in 2020, and 1.29 billion in 2021. Last year, it dropped to 1.243 billion again. Smartphone sales will be around 1.278 billion in 2023.

By the way, the South Korean company might also reduce the number of models in its A series. It ought to continue the Galaxy A1, A3, and A5 models but drop the A2.
