Intel 下個世代 Thunderbolt 與 USB4 v2.0 哥倆好，傳輸速率 80Gbps 起跳
傳輸速率倍增並且支援 PCIe 4.0、DisplayPort 2.1 等新規範，可以滿足更未來的應用需求。
在 11 月 USB DevDays 開發者系列活動正式展開前，USB-IF 如期正式發表 USB4 v2.0 規範到來，傳輸速率將能倍增至 80Gbps 甚至是達 120Gbps。於此同時，Intel 也揭露傳聞中的下一代 Thunderbolt 介面，它具有同級傳輸速率與支援規格特性。
就 Intel 角度來講，下一代 Thunderbolt 與 USB4 v2.0 仍然具有關聯性，兩者都是植基於 Thunderbolt 3 再發展而來。下一代 Thunderbolt 的雙向傳輸速率可達 80Gbps（傳輸、接收各 80Gbps），至於所謂最高 120Gbps 是指在非對稱傳輸 / 動態頻寬模式，可以達成傳送 120Gbps、接收 40Gbps 速率，但主要是供影像傳輸應用。
和 USB4 如出一轍，下個世代 Thunderbolt 也將支援 2 倍資料傳輸吞吐量的 PCIe 4.0 匯流排介面（當前版本是 PCIe 3.0），以及 VESA 剛推出的 DisplayPort 2.1 規範。另外是繼 Thunderbolt 4 支援 2 路 4K 影像訊號輸出之後，下一代 Thunderbolt 的支援規格也再次提高，將能對應支援 8K 解析度。
當然了，它與 USB4 v1.0 / 2.0、USB 3.2 之間也是具有相容性，能夠向下支援舊有 USB 版本裝置，這是雙方一致提供的承諾。Thunderbolt 較大不同處，在於支援自家所開發安全性功能，Intel 向來相當強調這點。不過 Intel 尚未確認下個世代 Thunderbolt 介面的名稱，他們預計要到 2023 年才會公布，包含更多特點與細節等資訊。
