Hello members of the Product Hunt community! It's my pleasure to introduce you to myGOTU - Knowledge Exchange! I'd like to use this space to say a few words about what myGOTU is, how it came to be, and the team that built it.

In short, myGOTU is a new mobile app that connects you with people whose knowledge complements your own. Say, for example, that you know a lot about coding but want to know more about fitness and literature. GOTU will make it easy for you to meet people who know a lot about fitness or literature, and want to know more about coding.

The idea for myGOTU came about from the observation that, very often, we rely on our friends and family members for information. When I have a question about baking, I'll ask the baker I know. When I have a question about my car, I'll ask my gearhead friend. These people offer insight and experience that I can't get through Google alone. But, for many areas of knowledge, I simply don't have contacts who can answer my questions. myGOTU is for connecting people with questions to people with knowledge, and building friendships in the process.

And now just a bit about the team. As you might guess from this long-winded post, I'm a philosopher specializing in epistemology (the theory of knowledge). My partner, @anna_berezhkova , is a software developer and a data scientist. We built myGOTU together (with Anna doing most of the hard work!) by combining our very different bases of knowledge. Our hope for myGOTU is that, by connecting people based on difference, rather than similarity, we can encourage new friendships and new ideas.
