Warner Bros. unveils ‘Barbie’ movie teaser trailer

Yahoo Finance Live's Dave Briggs, Jared Blikre, and Brooke DiPalma discuss the new trailer for the upcoming "Barbie" movie.

JARED BLIKRE: First teaser for the upcoming "Barbie" movie is out today, and it zeros in on the importance of dolls in society.

- Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there have been dolls. But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls until--

[DRAMATIC MUSIC]

All right, guys, you're going to have to wait until July to see the movie. Got to ask you, well, it's a little bit too early for pre-sales as well. But are you going to be lining up?

DAVE BRIGGS: Ladies first.

BROOKE DIPALMA: I absolutely will be. I mean, this is exactly what I've been waiting for, in a sense. I feel like you grow up with this Barbie genre. Now, of course, a bit older, here I am. And this is something that my friends will be going to see. And also, just in general, I feel like the hype is real.

DAVE BRIGGS: I just don't know what to make of it because I can't tell is this a serious look at Barbie? Is there something deeper? Or is it like a parody? And that trailer right there gives me further questions.

JARED BLIKRE: Which one would you go to?

DAVE BRIGGS: I just can't tell what the tone-- yeah, I don't know. I can't tell what the tone of this film is going to be. Are we going there to laugh or to be moved? What is it? Don't get me wrong--

BROOKE DIPALMA: I was moved by that trailer.

DAVE BRIGGS: You were?

BROOKE DIPALMA: I mean, maybe you weren't?

DAVE BRIGGS: Either way--

BROOKE DIPALMA: I had some sort of emotion.

JARED BLIKRE: I have an exegetical reading of the script will actually reveal a depth of character never be seen--

BROOKE DIPALMA: Ooh.

JARED BLIKRE: --never before seen in Hollywood--

BROOKE DIPALMA: I actually appreciate that. That's a good insight.

JARED BLIKRE: OK--

DAVE BRIGGS: It is Greta Gerwig, so I do think it's going to be a serious film. And either way, we're going to see it. It's, like, just so fascinating.
