Your new favorite blogging toolHey friends, Val here ๐Ÿ‘‹ founder of blogstatic.

blogstatic's journey has been quite different from my other products.

Most of my products had a linear trajectory, in which I would work on them for a while and then either let them run to their exhaustion, sunset them if they didn't work out, or exit them entirely, as was the case with Claritask.

I launched blogstatic, or instead slid it through into the world ๐Ÿ˜‡ on April 2021. It was more of a personal challenge to launch a working product made in about 20-30 hours, and back then I didn't think of it as an actual product.

At the time, I had just come out of the Claritask exit for a sum that was amazing for our family of 4. I wanted to coast along for a while, without much pressure, since Claritask had taken a toll on my personal life, and I was happy to find a good home for it.

"Just a side-project" From April 2021 to this past summer, I treated blogstatic as a side project. I consulted for various clients and worked on blogstatic whenever I had the time to do so. I tried different pricing models, from the initial $39/year to $5-9/month, but none really caught on.

This past August, I got tired of working for clients and wanted to take a bolder step forward. A step that I was thinking of taking on for quite some time but never had the guts to actually do it: To quit client work, take out a personal loan, and solely focus on my products.

Here's more about that decision โ€” Setting Sail

One thing we never realize before making a bold move is that we never consider the fantastic things that can happen after that. We're stuck with that sole decision, and we think that with enough planning, we know what will happen ahead. Lo and behold, a month after my major step forward, I secured a $30,000 angel investment from a fellow bootstrapper. An investment that would extend my runway for an additional year.

More about that โ€” Runway extended by an Angel

With the extended runway in check, I wanted to take a second look at blogstatic because I never gave it a real chance to succeed. Even though it received a few payments back in the day, it never really broke through. I wanted to give it one last chance and go the Carrd route by introducing a more accessible price of just $19/year per blog. In addition, I wanted to rebrand it to something more pleasing to the eye and yet serious.

More in the following article โ€” Giving blogstatic a real chance

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE RE-LAUNCH ๐Ÿ”ฅ About two months ago, on October 11, 2022 โ€” I relaunched a rebranded blogstatic with the new pricing of only $19/year. Since then, I've been getting about one new payment per day, with the highest of 5 new payments in a single day this past Sunday. It has passed the $1000 total made since October 11, crossed $1000 in ARR, and there are 73 paid websites at the time of this writing.

By the way, I am documenting everything in the open for all to see (personal blog and Twitter), including my personal finances, which is helping me stay accountable as I feel my online friends are like my board of directors, and I have to report to them ๐Ÿฅณ

Testimonials and comments from new and existing customers have been a maker's dream, with even favorable comparisons to the greats like Ghost and Wordpress. These testimonials can be found towards the footer of the website: https://blogstatic.io

The ultimate goal is to get blogstatic to 5,000 paid websites, bringing it to exactly $95K ARR. This amount would make it a self-sustaining operation and allow me to bring more upgrades. I even recorded a podcast episode this past weekend talking about what it would take to get there: The road to 5000 paid blogs
