As per the title?

If you returned it, can you please let me know why?

Similarity, if you kept it, can you please say what you like about it?

Thank you.

Too bad there isn't an option for "covets despite already having an M1 MacBook Pro".

My M2 MacBook Air is the best Apple device I've ever owned. And I previously had a 14" MacBook Pro.

best laptop I’ve ever owned. Battery life is amazing, speed is blazing fast as well, never any issues with thermals at all. Overall just an awesome lightweight laptop

It's the third Apple laptop I've owned, the sixth overall computer and by far the best of any of them.

Both.

Bought one straight from Apple (8GB RAM/256GB SSD), then realized the military post where I work sold the 8GB/512GB SSD version for $50 more than the base version, so I returned the base version.

this is a friendly comment:
Does the MacBook Air M1 do the same thing?
without the finger prints?

I have been very pleased with my M2. I prefer it over my M1 MBA.
I like not having grill speakers.
I like having a larger SSD (2TB). I am glad I paid the Apple tax for the maxed M2. My M1 only has 256.
I like the bigger Touch ID button on the M2.
I like having more RAM with the M2 versus just 8GB in the M1, even though memory pressure never got red. I did tax it a lot, which did involve SSD swap.
I also like the Starlight color.

I understand my requirements before I buy a computer, so I don't change my mind and return it after buying it. The MBA replaced an Intel 16" i9 MBP. When I bought that computer I was also considering an Intel 13" MBP. In hindsight, I should have gone that route as I am happier with a smaller, lighter laptop. The M2 MBA hits the smaller, lighter requirement dead on. It runs on battery forever, seems like, and sits like a fairly cool feather on my lap. I even like the keyboard better than the 2019 MBP, probably because it's closer to the front of the computer than it was with the 16" machine. So far, the MBA has more than enough processing horsepower for the applications I use.

I'm happy, and as expected, it's a keeper. (FWIW, this is my 9th Apple laptop)

Kept the base model, slow SSD and all! In real world use, it’s a fast computer, and the battery life is just absolutely insane.

Compared to my 16” Intel MBP, it’s just as powerful if not more, and quicker in launching apps and general OS operations.

This is a friendly reply:

Depends. Space grey m1 probably gets fingerprints and silver has just as many as any color but you just can’t see them.

As far as do they do the same thing, I mean any laptop does basically the same things but it is how it does them that is the difference.

M1 MBA is still a great laptop but the dimmer screen and larger bezels might compel one to get the M2. The M2 is also a faster chip with better graphics so I would say it does things a little better.

Then there is MagSafe and a redesign.

So my answer to your question would be NO it doesn’t do the same thing but that might be a little dramatic like the fingerprint complaints on the M2.

Of course, it's a fantastic machine that's more than powerful enough for my needs for the forseeable future. Plus I got a free upgrade because my first one arrived DOA, which only sweetened the deal. It's probably my favourite purchase of the year.

wish I could give this a 1000 likes. So bored of fingerprint discussions. It’s a tool. My M1 mba was fine, but I prefer the M2 over the M1 because of the brighter screen, easier to carry square design, mag safe, and it’s noticeably snappier.

I returned it, SG 16GB, and got 14" Macbook Pro for 1599 instead.

I love my base M2 MBA. It does everything I want and need. I bought it on sale at BB for $1,049. I have been so happy with mine that I bought another one at the same price for my son to replace his 2017 MBA.

I may be the only person on here that would prefer the M2 13" MacBook Pro over the M2 13" Air, when it comes to M2-based Macs. The cooling and mature design (even if it lacks MagSafe 3 and a fast-charge option) really do it for me. Then again, I'm not anti-TouchBar.

I found I preferred the M2 Air to the 14” MBP because of portability and battery life.

But screen is smaller. Is that an issue ? Can only fine 8gb also in store. :/

Yes I thinks that’s a better deal and setup.

Better deal is subjective according to your use case and preferences. And despite the older M1 MBP base model being on sale the M2 MBA is a lot cheaper and can also be found on sale even in custom configurations.

For me a better deal isn’t just based on paper specs but what I enjoy using and what makes my life easier. For me portability and battery life combined with excellent performance are the best deal and saving a few bucks on top of it.

Of course if you want a MBP they are amazing laptops but if I was going to get one I wouldn’t get the 14” base model.

Why are you asking? Have you had a bad experience with this model?
