Based on the original ModPlug Tracker written by Olivier Lapicque, OpenMPT is free software, can import a wide variety of module formats and offers an intuitive, native GUI as well as advanced features such as VST plugins and ASIO output.
In addition to its own song format, OpenMPT can natively edit Impulse Tracker, FastTracker, Scream Tracker and ProTracker module files. Read more about it on the features page!

Some Treasures from the Vault

Posted on 7 November 2022 - 18:38 by Saga Musix

Thanks to community member Paper, we can present some treasures previously not available in our software archive: Digging through old shareware and magazine CDs available on archive.org, Paper found a great number of old versions of ModPlug Tracker, ModPlug Player and the ModPlugin that were previously not present in our archive. This includes the earliest version of ModPlug Tracker that we are aware of now, version 1.0 alpha 3. Previously, the oldest known version was 1.0 alpha 5. Of course we will keep digging for the "holy grail" - version 1.0 alpha 1, but now you have the possibility to explore how ModPlug Tracker looked like in late 1997.

Enjoy!

It's been one and a half years since the initial release of OpenMPT 1.29, and in the meantime we have provided many updates to make it more stable and add a few new features and improve details. Now we are finally ready to present the first release of OpenMPT 1.30. It took us way longer than expected, but the great number of improvements and new features was hopefully worth the wait.

OpenMPT 1.29.15.00 released

Posted on 5 December 2021 - 14:25 by Saga Musix

As a number of bugs was found and fixed during the last few weeks, we decided to release one last update to OpenMPT 1.29 to address various minor issues and annoyances. In addition, this is the first fully code-signed OpenMPT release thanks to a generous donation by an OpenMPT user. This avoids annoying warnings when running untrusted applications downloaded from the internet in modern Windows versions. All that being said, we are still on track for finally releasing OpenMPT 1.30 later this month. If you are curious what's new, you can have a look at the release candidate thread on our forums.

Here are the most important changes of this update:
