近日，天文学家利用国际双子星天文台发现了一颗距离地球最近的黑洞，名为盖亚BH1。
据了解， 该黑洞质量约为太阳的10倍，位于蛇夫座，距离地球仅为1600光年 ，这也是天文学家首次明确探测到银河系中休眠恒星质量黑洞。
所谓“休眠黑洞”，是指不发射高强度X射线辐射的黑洞，它很少与周围环境相互作用，特别难以被发现。
目前已知距离地球第二近的黑洞约在3200光年之外。 这一发现已于11月2日发表在《皇家天文学会月刊》杂志上。
