Motorola G Power (2022) (TONGA)

The Corvus GSIs work pretty good run smooth and pretty quick, but all seem to have a systemui reset problem, but it's bearable. Cherish seems bugfree and volte works sometimes on it. Octivi-OS imo are the GSIs that run the smoothest and fastest that I've found almost no noticable bugs other then the volte going in & out. And superior seems to run decent. I try almost all new ones, but I seem to use octivi as my daily driver.
I haven't found a single a 10 gsi that'll boot up. A11 & a12 works on all the above mentioned GSIs.

So I've finally found a gsi / apn combo the volte stays on constantly. I'm not sure if it's more the rom or apn/ setting, but I'm hesitant to flash another gsi and test it on that one.

It stayed on through root, Xposed install and everything.

Can you confirm that VoLTE functions without falling back to a 3G network (including SMS messaging). I live in an area where there are no more 3G networks

The Rom works well most of the time and sms/mms and calling works but for some reason mobile data internet won't work... does anyone know how to fix this? (I am using the unlocked version of the phone if that makes a difference)

(this is my first time using a forum site so sorry if I formatted this incorrectly)
I can confirm that my volte stays on and hasn't fallen back to 3g. I got my phone on LTE only and mms & voice work all the time. I do live in a big city though.
I don't use wifi and I disable video calling.

I've tried several different Rom and I have had any problems with it staying on with Android 12 roms, a11 roms I haven't tried yet. Maybe I'll try one today sometime.

I ended up having to revert to the stock firmware , rooted of course.. until I can figure out the connectivity issues because I work in a lot of rural areas and I found my self losing service A lot.
Can you share which gsi exactly it was that you're using? Gonna give it a try next

I've gotten cherish, superior, awaken all to work. Make sure it's on LTE only and if it's not working for to your network settings and turn volte off then back on. That should do the trick. I've found cherish as the best ROM as of yet.

how did u fully root the phone?

The same way as any other moto and most phones. Here is a good guide that worked for me. Get Magisk from here.

Finally managed to root this after waiting the ridiculous 3 days time frame for oem unlock to enable. It was worth it though, liking this phone. Twrp would be nice.

Hello, I'm very new to this forum (first post), and mobile phone flashing in general, plus I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or just continue on this one.
I do have some experience with Linux (Debian) systems on computers and tablets, so I am relatively familiar with flashing and reinstalling in general, and can follow directions relatively easily.

I was recently gifted a Motorola G Power (2022) (TONGA), more precisely a XT2165-5 with Android 11 RRQ31-Q3-68-99, as per Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Recovery, oem_locked (although the online shop advertised it as unlocked).

I would like to degoogle it as much as possible, ideally installing Lineage OS (it does not to be officially supporting the device yet), but despite multiple searches, I cannot find anyone who has done it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

And if that route doesn't work, what are good alternatives with other custom ROMs+apps?
I'm also curious about microG.

Thank you

Great to hear! How did you flash this ROM? I've unlocked my bootloader (it says flashing_unlocked on the bootloader screen)

I believe I unlocked the bootloader on this phone. I want to flash TWRP onto it.

fastboot boot twrp.img

does not work, nor does

fastboot flash recovery_a twrp.img or recovery_b

I tried flashing borneo and kiev twrp since there doesn't seem to be a tonga twrp
Is there any other way to unlock the bootloader besides Motorola's website? I have the TracFone(straightalk) version, very disappointed they won't unlock their phones. Won't be buying thru them again.

I followed the instructions to the "T" but I ran into an error with the vbmeta.img flashing in fastbootd, tried to flash it in normal fastboot, but it continued to bootloop after 30min of just letting it go. Is there an option or something I missed?

Go to the settings, phh tr option, then ims, check bottom two boxes, then install and install that, then dial *#*#4636#*#* click LTE only, check ims service status in top right dot menu, if ims isn't registered restart, then go to your network settings then sim and make sure volte is switched on, turn data off & back on, turn sim off & back on, then check ims status again on *#*#4636#*#* menu. If still not registered then install a better gsi

  • Hey bro can you do me a favor have you tested it all completely out for bugs? Let me know which ones there are if any... Also what process did you use did you use fastboot flash system_a?

    Read this to the "T'.

Install Android 12 Pixel GSI instructions:
    1 Unlocked bootloader
    2 Windows laptop or CPU
3Your Region Stock "Tonga" firmware from lolinet.. and the PIXEL 12 GSI firmware from GitHub. Product.img file to resize the GSI (see attachment)
Open two folders on computer and put Tonga stock firmware in one and the GSI 12 ROM in the other folder along with the product.img file and the vbmeta.img from your stock firmware.
4.Turn off device and on the computer open a command prompt inside the Stock firmware folder.
5.While Holding "volume down" connect phone to computer you'll be in fastboot mode.
6 Flash stock firmware using these commands. Just copy and paste into the command prompt.
(After about 10 minutes phone will reboot to stock welcome screen)
This is Metro by T-Mobile so if using a different stock firmware only difference is the number of (super.img_sparsechunk) so check your stock firmware folder and add or delete any super.img_sparsechunks commands if necessary...you see Metro by TMobile has "24" of them..

Ready to flash Android 12 let's go!!!!

After you see welcome screen turn off device.

1.Open Pixel GSI 12 folder and open a command prompt inside the folder
2Connect phone to PC and put back into fastboot mode.
3Copy and paste these commands to flash the ROM .(Note the GSI you download and unzip the name will be pixel..ab..slim....img..Rename it to "system.img")

    fastboot set_active a
    fastboot reboot fastboot
    fastboot flash product product_gsi.img
    fastboot flash system system.img
    fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
    fastboot -w
    fastboot reboot

After about 10 minutes you will boot up to Android 12 Pixel ROM. Yay..

Now to get Bluetooth ,VOLTE,MMS and SMS working follow these instructions.

1.Go through the set up screen and set up everything "offline" uncheck all options .
2 Go into settings and look for "PHH Treble Settings" (Magic happens here) lol
Go to "MISC Features and check these three boxes for Bluetooth fix

"Use alternative way to detect headset.."
    "Force -disable A2DP offlload"
Option called Bluetooth Workaround( check Mediatek)

    LTE VOLTE FIX
    PHH Treble settings
3 Go to "IMS Features" and check the last two boxes then hit "install ims for Mediatek.." then lastly hit "create ims apn"
4 once the ims apk downloads, manually install it from the notification drop down. (Don't reboot if it says to)
    5. Open stock GSI ROM phone dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#* Three options will appear choose 'phone information"
6 Change data option using the little arrow drop down to (GSM WCDMA LTE (PRL) see full image.
7 Reboot phone,,,, Once rebooted go to mobile data settings and check the VOLTE options... ...Now test calls and text you should have VOLTE BLUETOOTH in call voice, MMS,SMS everything working like me...
8 Root if you want ,,same way just patch the boot image with magisk manager 23 or 24. And fastboot flash the magisk boot.img.
Profit... Now set up your phone to your liking.
