Has anyone ever had an issue with the MacBook Pro chassis actually splitting open? For some reason it seems that both sides of my MacBook Pro have a split open from the sides and the bottom plate.

sounds like a swollen battery, best get it looked at!

See if there's an extended, swollen battery related, warranty for your specific model. Apple replaced the bottom case, battery and, maybe (forget) keyboard on my 2015 MBP well after AppleCare coverage had expired. These are “quiet” programs. I found out about mine by visiting an Applestore and complaining that my MBP was rocking around on a flat surface.

I don’t know the cost, sorry. Call support or bring it into a store. Swollen batteries are dangerous and should be taken care of promptly.If it a swollen battery, any idea how much it would cost to replace it
