印度总理在第六届印度移动大会上宣布启动印度的5G移动服务，第一阶段，5G将首先在13个城市推出。
印度巴帝电信（Airtel）表示，从10月1日开始先在8个城市推出5G服务。印度电信公司Jio则承诺在2023年12月前为印度全国提供5G服务。沃达丰创意公司尚未确认其5G计划的推出日期。
据介绍，首批13个城市为：班加罗尔、昌迪加尔、艾哈迈达巴德、甘地讷格尔、古尔格拉姆、海得拉巴、贾姆纳加尔、钦奈、德里、加尔各答、孟买、浦那、勒克瑙。
印度电信部长阿什维尼·瓦什纳称， 5G服务不会向人们收取额外费用。
