Chase just announced plans to launch the first-ever DoorDash credit card: the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard. The card will offer exclusive deals, discounts, and perks for customers, and cardholders will be able to earn rewards on eligible purchases through the DoorDash app or website, and in person.

During the pandemic, food delivery services like DoorDash and UberEats not only became a source of convenience but also somewhat of a necessity. Now in a post-pandemic world, food delivery is still widely popular despite steep delivery and service fees. The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard could be the key to saving money and earning rewards on your food delivery spending.

The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard will be a World Elite Mastercard, and will offer valuable and convenient rewards and perks for customers, plus complimentary 24/7 concierge service and access to Mastercard Priceless Experiences. Specific card reward rates, fees, and benefits have yet to be announced.

Chase and DoorDash started their partnership back in January 2020, and since then have provided consumers with exciting new deals and rewards. Just last month, Chase expanded its free DashPass membership perk to most of its co-branded cards (activation required by December 31, 2024). Plus, Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders get $5 in DoorDash in-app credit every month. So it'll be interesting to see how the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard plans to step up its game, and also what that means for existing DoorDash deals on eligible co-branded Chase cards.

We're focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won't be worth it if you're paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it's important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

Earlier this year, Chase launched the first-ever co-branded food delivery credit card with Instacart: the Instacart Mastercard®. This card earns:

  • 5% cash back at over 800 Instacart-partnered grocery and retail stores
  • 2% cash back on restaurant, gas, and select streaming services
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

It has no annual fee and useful perks like $100 Instacart credit automatically upon approval, plus a free year of Instacart+ membership.

Despite both companies providing popular food delivery services, DoorDash and Instacart don't actually provide the same services. DoorDash mainly delivers food from restaurants (with limited grocery and other local stores available), while Instacart specializes in grocery store deliveries (not meal orders from restaurants).

Ignoring the little bit of overlap, Instacart and DoorDash are not direct competitors and folks could potentially benefit from owning both Chase co-branded cards (actual value and benefit opportunities will depend on the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard terms).

That said, Chase seems to be on a roll launching new co-branded cards with existing partners. Just last week, Chase and Marriott Bonvoy released the new Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card for folks looking to earn Marriott points fast. So now with the plans for the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard underway, it will be interesting to see if more new co-branded Chase cards will be released before the end of the year.
