《守望先锋》官方发布消息，宣布游戏的全新次世代版本《守望先锋：归来》将在10月5日正式上线。
在宣布新版本上线的同时，官方也开启了预约活动，用户前往暴雪游戏服务中心即可参与， 预约用户在《归来》上线后，能够获得一罐神秘喷漆，和一款新推出的神秘武器吊坠。
和此前宣传的一样， 《守望先锋：归来》将会转为免费制运营，所有玩家均可免费进入游戏 ，已经购买游戏的老玩家，则能够获得包含两款史诗皮肤以及其他奖励的先行者礼包作为补偿。
作为次世代版本，《守望先锋：归来》除了在画面上进行优化升级外，也对玩法系统进行了改动。
