School is back in session, carpool season has just begun, and with continuously high gas prices, any opportunity to save at the pump is welcome. Conveniently, the Bilt Mastercard® is offering 3x points on gas through the end of October.

From August 25, 2022 to October 31, 2022, you can earn 3x rewards points (1 base point plus 2 bonus points) at qualifying gas station merchants through the Bilt World Elite Mastercard Credit Card Rewards Program, though your earning will be capped at 2,500 points.

We're focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won't be worth it if you're paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it's important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

How it works

If you spend a lot at gas stations (including automated fuel dispensers and electric vehicle charging stations) you could definitely benefit from this limited-time offer on the Bilt Mastercard®.

Keep in mind that you'll be capped at 2,500 points (equal to $1,250 in net purchases). You'll also have to make at least five purchases per billing cycle to earn rewards.

And there are some exclusions: Bilt Mastercard® cardholders won't earn bonus points when they spend on gas or electric charges at warehouses/membership clubs, grocery stores, car washes, auto repair stores, or superstores.

What is the Bilt World Elite Mastercard?

The no-annual-fee Bilt Mastercard® (issued by Wells Fargo) earns points 1 point per dollar spent on rent (up to $50,000 a year), 2x points on travel bookings, and 3x points on dining (1x points on all other purchases). Plus, Bilt is sweetening the pot as you can now earn 3x points on gas (up to $1,250) for a limited time.

The Bilt Mastercard® is currently the only card that earns rewards on rent without requiring any extra fees. To avoid transaction fees, Bilt writes a check or makes a direct bank transfer to your landlord.

The Bilt Mastercard® is most valuable when used as a travel rewards card since you can transfer points to a growing selection of airlines and hotels partnered with Bilt Rewards (such as American Airlines AAdvantage, United Airlines, and IHG Rewards Club). You can also use points on down payments or mortgages, on fitness classes, or on merchandise through the Bilt app

It has a 14.99% - 29.99% Variable APR. The card has no foreign transaction fees, so it's a good option for international travel. You'll also get solid benefits like cell phone protection, Mastercard ID theft protection, and purchase security.

Is the 3x points on gas worth it?

If you already have the Bilt Mastercard® and you spend a lot on gas, you'll definitely benefit from this limited-time offer. And in general, folks considering a no-annual-fee travel rewards card (especially renters) should definitely consider applying for the Bilt Mastercard®. The card earns up to 3x points on purchases and gives cardholders access to World Elite Mastercard perks, all for no annual fee.

However, if you want to save on gas, but would rather redeem your points as statement credits or cash back, the Bilt Mastercard® isn't a good fit, since these aren't redemption options on the Bilt Mastercard®.
