@Snirpo should I unistall the production APP? - Now I'm seeing I have two AAWireless Apps, and I don't know if they're going to work together or have some conflicts...

Thanks!

Yup, no that's fine, production app will be updated through Play Store. Dev app through App Tester. Just make sure you don't have start / stop enabled on both versions, that will conflict.

What is the most recent beta version? I'm still on 2.1.0-202206240850, which has been working perfectly.

Hi!
I'm having a lot of connection problems using my galaxy s22 with my audi my 2021. I've tried the best practices written but it didn't work.
Can I try the beta firmware?

Enabled, but most likely will not help.

Won't help, (some) NAC Wave 2 HU's are problematic with any Wireless dongle. I've tested this on a Citroen C3 with MA1, Carsifi and AAWireless. All same issues. Only video is fine, video + audio = stuttering, lag, hanging video. For reference: https://github.com/cpebit/aawireless-issues/issues/106

@Snirpo
Dang, you jebaited me. App Dev update has "new UI" in the name, but there's nothing new 🥹🤭

@Snirpo ,

I'm experiencing some minor drops on the connection between Aawireless and my phone (S21 Ultra), even when the phone is beside the device. This happens from time to time, it's not frequent, and it takes 1 to 2 seconds to recover connection (device led blinking blue). In fact, I sometimes just notice it when the music stutters, because Android Auto is still there. Eventually (and it's very rare) I get a full disconnection (device blinking green) and after 5 to 8 seconds it reconnects.

My settings:all default (dongle disable),but wifi set to 153 channel and passthrough enable, the connection is stable (Samsung A73).
Wnen dongle mode is enable, disconnect happens.

Hello all

Always the same issue for me, my phone connect to the AAWireless, and in my car the AA icon become available, but after a few seconds the ícon disappear, then appear and keep going like this until I press the icon

If I press on the ícon when it show at the screen, AA start on the car and its good, but I can't understand why it reboot like that, and in my phone if I start the AAWireless apps (dev version) I see the version of my dongle, and when the dongle have this problem , the version disappear and appear again, so I think it's the AAWireless who's disconnect of my phone I don't know, all was good before

I have the last beta version for the dongle, the last dev app, Samsung s20 fe, AA 7.9

I've already try to clean cache, reinstall apps, factory reset ect.. Always the same

  • At this moment we have shut down all OTA updates unfortunately. The load on our backend is too high. Too long without maintenance because of other priorities. We have to optimize some stuff to make it work again.

    It's working again

I got bored today, so I thought I make a mock up how the AAWireless app could look like When swiping t he car picture could change if you want to connect to annother device/car

Haha nice! I'll pass it on to our UI/UX designer We have some UX changes in the pipeline, but it doesn't have the highest prio right now as you can imagine.
We made some changes in firmware 2.1.0 which means we don't need these dreaded USB modes anymore. The plan is to ship devices in passthrough + dongle mode, to make it work natively, like the MA1, by default.
Then we are going to hide away the settings in a sort of advanced settings menu, because all these settings are nice, but people don't read/understand what they do, stuff stops working and then our support has to handle it. Hardly anyone uses these settings, for example, dpi change, the most used feature, is only used on 1 percent of all devices.
Bassicly we are KISS'ing it, but still keep advanced settings for well... You guys

We are going to revert some changes and release 2.1.0 officially next week. In the meantime we are testing some start issues on UConnect HU's and some other issues.

a feature that has been desired for a long time is that you can easily switch between two cell phones. As far as I can remember, one of your team wrote somewhere that a good solution is being worked on. is this still the case? Is there a time horizon when this can be expected? for example a specific quarter or year? I mainly ask because if the wrong mobile phone connects, it is sometimes impossible to connect the other one without switching off the mobile phone, since Bluetooth and WLAN are activated again too quickly depending on the mobile phone.
    Kind Regards
We want to do this, but "Dongle mode", which is how AA natively works with dongles, makes this feature a bit useless. Dongle mode makes only the phone connected to handsfree of the car start up AA. So you cannot really switch phones anymore, cause even if you switch phones from the AAW side, only the phone currently connected to handsfree of the car can start up AA. It might work for cars which support multiple handsfree connections, but that's most likely only a small part of the market.

At this point our main objective is to squash as many bugs as we can, and make the dongle as native as possible, so we get the product as plug and play as possible. Possibly in Q3/Q4 we can play around a bit with new features.
Not a complaint at all but a suggestion: I wonder if @Snirpo is there a way to enable an in-app setting that allows people to "register" themselves for the alpha/beta testing? Seems like a mission for you to manually add all these people 😁
I've been happily using AAwirelsss in my Kia Stinger, but I do have a few notes on my specific installation that others might find helpful.

Instead of using the built in start / stop detection, I made a Y cable that hooks up the USB data lines and ground to my head unit, but power is pulled from a cigarette lighter USB adapter. I don't know if this is safe on all cars, but it worked on mine.

I have quite a few devices in my car I need to share internet with, and I do not want to buy an extra hotspot., so I had to make a few tweaks on my phone to make my phone's hot spot play nice with AAwireless. In the past I simply had a macrodroid script set up so that when my bluetooth connects to the car, it started my phone's hot spot.

Unfortunately, the limited wifi connection to AAwireless seems to confuse my phone's hotspot, and it won't share any internet once connected to AAwireless.

I found the trick was to to have Macrodroid enable my hotspot, then disable wifi, forcing the hot spot to share my cellular data connection, then reenable wifi, and script connecting to AAwireless manually.

The AAwireless password is the SHA-1 of the device name in upper case.

Note: AAwireless does currently support connecting through a hot spot, but only a hot spot that isn't also your AAwireless phone. Support for connecting via your phone's built in hot spot is eventually coming, but for now the method I use above has worked well for me.

Sounds very complex I'll build this feature into the next version of the app, possibly this week. Care to test?
