How to Sign Up for T-Mobile's 5G 15-Day Trial Offer

By Aya Masango Published 16 hours ago

T-Mobile is currently offering a 15-day trial offer in the US for its 5G home internet. Here's everything you need to know, and how to sign up.

If you’ve ever considered signing up for T-Mobile’s home internet, the carrier is giving you a little encouragement to help you make that decision.

T-Mobile is offering a 15-day trial of its 5G home internet or your money back. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, continue reading to find out how the offer works and how to sign up.

T-Mobile Is Offering a 15-Day 5G Trial or Your Money Back

For the first time, T-Mobile is giving you a trial run of its 5G home internet service for free. The offer was announced by CEO Mike Sievert during T-Mobile’s live-streamed event on May 5th, 2022. It forms part of the carrier’s bigger plan of fixing the “broken” broadband industry by giving people a simpler way to switch to wireless 5G home internet.

This is a limited-time offer. And to sweeten the deal, if you’re unhappy with T-Mobile’s 5G service by the time the trial period is up, the carrier promises to give you your money back.

Just to clarify, the 15-day trial is for a 5G home internet plan, rather than a typical mobile data plan. T-Mobile’s 5G home internet service comes with unlimited data and no caps. It typically goes for $50 a month with AutoPay.

And the price is locked in, with “no hidden fees”, which means that T-Mobile won't surprise you with price hikes for as long as you stay a customer. According to T-Mobile, this is half the price of the industry benchmark.

How T-Mobile's 15-Day 5G Trial Offer Works

Anyone with a qualifying home internet line can sign up for the trial. This is a no-obligation trial, and you don’t have to go through the admin of disconnecting your current provider to try out T-Mobile’s home internet.

It makes things easier for you to stay with your current provider if you’re not keen on switching to T-Mobile after your trial period is up. Although, T-Mobile is banking on winning you over. That’s why the company is going as far as offering to pay your costs for switching. It will offer up to $500 to terminate your contract with your current internet service provider if you decide to move over to its service.

It takes up to eight weeks for T-Mobile to pay these fees, though, so that's something to keep in mind should you decide to cut ties with your current provider. But that's not the only perk that T-Mobile is offering new home internet customers.

Starting May 10th, 2022, you can get home internet for $30 per month if you’re already on T-Mobile’s Magenta Max family plan, which is a voice plan. That's a $20 discount. The same plan can get you 50% off YouTube TV for a year. T-Mobile will also roll out its T-Mobile Tuesdays incentives to broadband customers, with the first incentive being a $50 discount on any streaming device.

This isn't the first time that T-Mobile is touting its home internet. In November 2021, it offered its Home Internet customers a free Paramount+ subscription for a year.

How to Sign Up for T-Mobile's 5G Trial Offer

If you’re keen on taking T-Mobile up on its offer, simply follow the steps below.

  1. Before signing up, head over to T-Mobile’s website and enter your address and phone number to check if the service is available in your area.
  2. If it is, you'll be asked to provide more of your details.
  3. A T-Mobile representative will then contact you to help you with the sign-up process, after which you’ll have to create an account and provide your billing information.

T-Mobile will then send you a gateway device, which you’ll have to set up in your home. Over the two-week period, try to use the 5G service as you normally would to get a feel of whether it's right for you.

Stream videos or play online games. Browse your favorite sites, download some content, and monitor how it works. If you’re happy, simply stay on the service. If not, just ensure you cancel before day 15.

Is It Worth Getting T-Mobile's 15-Day 5G Trial Offer?

If you’ve been in the market for a new service provider, or if you stay in an area where you can’t get a decent internet plan, then it might be worth trying T-Mobile’s 5G line.

The trial period will give you time to test how fast and strong the signal is at your address, especially during peak hours. This will give you a practical and realistic sense of how T-Mobile compares to your current provider.
