索尼在上个月公布了代号为“Spartacus”的升级分层订阅服务，与微软的Xbox Game Pass类似，玩家可以通过订阅来畅玩游戏。不过索尼当时并没有提供新版PlayStation Plus的时间表，只是笼统地称会在六月份推出。
索尼现在已更新了PlayStation Plus的信息，确定了新服务的上线时间：
亚洲（不包含日本）：2022年5月23日
日本：2022年6月1日
美洲：2022年6月13日
欧洲：2022年6月22日
索尼还将云游戏服务扩展到许多新的地区，包括了保加利亚、克罗地亚、捷克、希腊、匈牙利、马耳他、波兰、塞浦路斯、罗马尼亚、斯洛伐克和斯洛文尼亚。简单来说，索尼的新服务结合了PlayStation Plus和PlayStation Now，并增加了高级服务的功能，保留PlayStation Plus品牌的同时，逐步淘汰PlayStation Now品牌。
新的PlayStation Plus分层订阅服务分为三层：第一层（Essential）基本就是目前的PlayStation Plus，每月玩家只可以下载两款游戏；第二层（Extra）将PlayStation Plus与PlayStation Now当前的一些功能结合，有多达400款PlayStation 4和PlayStation 5游戏，可以在游戏库中随便玩；第三层（Premium）除了包含第二层中的所有功能，还可以使用PC、PlayStation 4和PlayStation 5串流游戏，并提供还将包括PlayStation 2和PSP等游戏机的经典游戏库。
如果按年订阅来算，Essential、Extra和Premium的定价分为59.99美元、99.99美元和119.99美元。
