Percona Operator for PostgreSQL 1.2.0

On April 6, 2022, we released Percona Operator for PostgreSQL 1.2.0. It is based on best practices for the configuration and setup of a Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL cluster. The benefits of the Operator are many, but saving time and delivering a consistent and vetted environment are key.

Release highlights include

• With this release, the Operator turns to a simplified naming convention and changes its official name to Percona Operator for PostgreSQL
• Starting from this release, the Operator automatically generates TLS certificates and turns on encryption by default at cluster creation time. This includes both external certificates which allow users to connect to pgBouncer and PostgreSQL via the encrypted channel, and internal ones used for communication between PostgreSQL cluster nodes
• Various cleanups in the deploy/cr.yaml configuration file simplifies the deployment of the cluster, making no need in going into YAML manifests and tuning them

Updates of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 11.15, 12.10, 13.6, and 14.2

On April 14, 2022, we released updates to the releases of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 11.15, 12.10, 13.6, and 14.2. This update of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL includes pg_stat_monitor 1.0.0-rc.2 – the new version of the statistics collection tool for PostgreSQL. Release notes:

Percona Distribution for MySQL (PXC-based variant) 8.0.27

April 11, 2022, saw the release of Percona Distribution for MySQL (PXC-based variant) 8.0.27. It is a single solution with the best and most critical enterprise components from the MySQL open source community, designed and tested to work together. This release of Percona Distribution for MySQL is focused on the Percona XtraDB Cluster-based deployment variant. It is based on Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0.27-17.1.

Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0.27-18.1

On April 11, 2022, we released Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0.27-18.1, which supports critical business applications in your public, private, or hybrid cloud environment. Our free, open source, enterprise-grade solution includes the high availability and security features your business requires to meet your customer expectations and business goals. The following lists a number of the bug fixes for MySQL 8.0.27, provided by Oracle, and included in Percona Server for MySQL:

• The default_authentication_plugin is deprecated. Support for this plugin may be removed in future versions. Use the authentication_policy variable.
• The binary operator is deprecated. Support for this operator may be removed in future versions. Use CAST(... AS BINARY).
• Fix for when a parent table initiates a cascading SET NULL operation on the child table, the virtual column can be set to NULL instead of the value derived from the parent table.

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.27.0

April 14, 2022, saw the release of Percona Monitoring and Management 2.27.0, a free and open-source platform for managing and monitoring MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL performance.

Important – We recommend using the latest version of the PMM instance. This ensures that you access the latest features of the underlying components, such as VictoriaMetrics, with all the bug fixes in place. One of the critical features of VictoriaMetrics is stream parsing mode, which enhances the performance of PMM and saves memory when scraping targets exposing millions of metrics.
