1月25日，新东方创始人俞敏洪在个人公众号“老俞闲话”发文。文中提到：21号，新东方的新春年会，值得留下一笔。年前的时候，大家讨论现在七零八落的状态，还要不要举行新春年会，我说必须举行。越是这样的时刻，越要展示我们乐观的心情和面向未来的决心。因为疫情，年会只能在线举行，当面参加的人员仅限总部的几十个人，全国新东方几万人一起抽奖。今年手头紧张，大家共渡难关，所以抽奖总额不太多。
