Google 要求员工必须在 1 月 18 日前提供疫苗接种证明或者申请豁免。Google 员工在 12 月 3 日收到内部备忘录警告，如果员工没有在截止日期前上传疫苗接种证明，他们将被带薪行政休假 30 天，接着是无薪事假半年，如果届时还没有提供接种证明，他们将被解雇。Google 发言人表示，疫苗接种要求是保护员工安全和维持服务运行的最重要方式。搜索巨人表示疫苗接种是重新开放办公室计划的一部分，以限制新冠病毒在员工工作和生活地方的传播。
