Apple suppliers ‘gearing up’ for next-gen iPhone SE in early 2022

iPhone component suppliers are preparing for the launch of a next-generation iPhone SE in early 2022, according to a new report. Industry sources also claim that there have been no cutbacks in orders for the latest iPhone models.

The new iPhone SE is not expected to deliver a big redesign. However, recent reports have suggested it will feature a faster chip and 5G connectivity.

iPhone SE suppliers prepare for big upgrade

Apple introduced the current iPhone SE last April, almost four years after the original made its debut. It made the device larger by recycling iPhone 8’s design, and introduced significant improvements to power, cameras, and more.

To maintain iPhone SE’s popularity, Apple is likely to deliver an important refresh early next year, according to recent reports. And sources for Digitimes claim that Cupertino’s suppliers are now “gearing up” for its launch.

“VCM (voice coil motor) and other component suppliers … are gearing up for shipments for the next generation of Apple’s iPhone SE series slated for launch in the first half of 2022,” reads the report.

In addition to a faster processor, expected to be the A15 Bionic that debuted with iPhone 13, the third-generation iPhone SE is also expected to pick up significantly faster 5G connectivity. But it probably won’t get a big redesign.

Apple makes no cuts to iPhone orders

The same sources also claim that suppliers have seen no cutbacks in production for the latest iPhone models, despite suggestions that Apple has reduced its orders by 30% as a result of weaker demand ahead of the holidays.

It should be noted that Digitimes doesn’t exactly have the most reliable track record when it comes to predicting Apple’s moves, but it isn’t always wrong.
