牛津辞典2021年度词汇：VAX
2021 年 11 月 1 日，牛津辞典选出 vax 一词作为今年的年度词汇（Word of the Year 2021），并发表了有关疫苗的语言发展报告。过去一年“打疫苗/接种疫苗”一词，在新冠疫情期间“打进英语的血液之中”，其中 vax 这个词最引人注目。
自从新冠疫情全球爆发，大众都期盼能早日研发出疫苗，帮助社会尽快恢复正常生活。2021年与疫苗相关的词汇更加频繁出现，而“vax”（疫苗；接种疫苗）也被牛津辞典评选为2021年度词汇。牛津大学出版社在年度词相关的语言发展报告中表示，在2021年之前，这个词很少被使用，但截至今年9月，“vax”一词的使用量是去年同期的72倍。人们不仅频繁使用这个词，还将它用作形容词或动词。
